Hodges names Chief Diversity Director

Hodges University announced today that Gail Williams has been appointed as the Chief Diversity Director for the newly formed Office of Diversity. Williams also serves as the Director of Student Accounts at Hodges.With the appointment Hodges also joins the local chapter of the Florida Diversity Council.The Council's newly formed Naples Chapter will host their inaugural luncheon at Hodges in January.
"Hodges has been nationally recognized for its diversity, and we feel this appointment takes the University to the next step,” said President Terry McMahan."Diversity is a core value at Hodges, and our new Office for Diversity will continue to foster and sustain an environment that promotes academic excellence, respects differences, and accepts inclusiveness.
"Hodges' primary mission is education, but we must remember that education comes in many forms, including meaningful exposure to diverse people and cultures.Our Diversity Committee has done an outstanding job of recognizing ways that Hodges can celebrate diversity.Judging by the success of our annual Diversity Festival, they have been exceeding our expectations.With this new Office, we can expect an increased focus on diversity issues and inclusion in both our institution and the community at large.”
Williams feels that being part of the Florida Diversity Council is quite an honor for the University."The Council is committed to transforming workplace communities into environments where people are valued for their uniqueness and differences,” she said."We look forward to joining them in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace as well as our own community right here in the Lee and Collier County area.”
In addition, to her duties as Chief Diversity Office and Director of Student Accounts, Ms. Williams serves as an ambassador for Hodges University in the local community by reaching out to various organizations, including the Council of Hispanic Business Professionals; the Lee and Collier County branches of the NAACP; and the Immokalee Chamber of Commerce.
